Merchandise trade slips into deficit in March
Latest reading: In March, the trade balance was USD -0.1 billion, following a USD +0.6 billion figure in the previous month. Over the last 12 months, the trade balance summed to USD +14.0 billion. Merchandise exports increased 19.1% in annual terms in March, coming on the back of a 10.7% rise in the prior month. Merchandise imports rose 37.0% in annual terms in March, following a 31.8% increase in the previous month. March's reading was the strongest since December 2021.
