Cyprus: Inflation accelerates in March from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 1.5% on a year-on-year basis in March, following a 0.9% rise in the previous month. March’s reading was the strongest since March 2025.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+6.5% on a year-on-year basis vs +2.7% in February), transportation (+1.2% vs -1.4% in February) and recreation (+5.7% vs +5.3% in February). In contrast, there were milder price pressures for housing and utilities (-4.0% vs -3.5% in February) and restaurants and hotels (+2.4% vs +4.9% in February).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 1.2% in March, following a 0.1% rise in the prior month.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 1.06% in March in month-on-month terms, following a 0.01% decline in the previous month.
