Netherlands: Inflation picks up in March from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 2.6% on a year-on-year basis in March, following a 2.3% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+2.0% on a year-on-year basis vs +1.2% in February), transportation (+5.1% vs +3.4% in February) and recreation (+1.6% vs +1.4% in February). In contrast, there were reduced price pressures for housing and utilities (+2.5% vs +2.6% in February) and restaurants and hotels (+5.2% vs +5.5% in February).
Meanwhile, consumer prices were up 2.7% on a year-on-year basis in March, following a 2.4% rise in the prior month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices were up 0.83% in March in month-on-month terms, following a 1.50% increase in the prior month.
