Inflation ebbs in June from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices were up 3.7% on a year-on-year basis in June, following a 3.8% increase in the prior month. Relative to the prior month's figures, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.6% in annual terms vs +1.1% in May), transportation (+5.4% vs +6.3% in May) and housing and utilities (+10.7% vs +11.0% in May). In contrast, there were more notable price pressures for recreation (+3.9% vs +2.2% in May) and restaurants and hotels (+4.0% vs +3.4% in May). Meanwhile, consumer prices increased 3.6% in June, unchanged from the prior month's reading. Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.47% in June on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.34% increase in the prior month.
