Australia: Employment rises in March
Latest reading: Australia’s workforce expanded by 17,900 in March 2026, bringing total employment to an all-time high of 14.76 million. That increase was much weaker than February’s upwardly revised gain of 49,600 and also came in below forecasts for a 20,000 rise. It was the slowest pace of job creation since employment declined in November. Full-time hiring rose while part-time employment dropped.
Finally, the unemployment rate was stable at February’s 4.3% in March.
