Belarus: Inflation ebbs in March from February
Latest reading: Consumer prices were up 5.4% in annual terms in March, following a 5.6% rise in the prior month. March’s reading was the weakest since January 2025.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+7.6% on a year-on-year basis vs +8.7% in February) and clothing (+2.3% vs +2.4% in February). In contrast, there were higher price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+2.6% vs +2.5% in February) and transportation (+5.2% vs +3.7% in February).
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.60% in March in month-on-month terms, unchanged from the prior month’s reading.
