Costa Rica: Economic activity decelerates in February
Latest reading: Economic activity increased 3.5% on a year-on-year basis in February, following a 4.0% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, readings in February worsened for agriculture, forestry and fishing (+3.6% in annual terms vs +3.8% in January), manufacturing (+0.6% vs +3.4% in January), information and communication (+3.8% vs +4.7% in January) and the construction sector (+11.8% vs +12.7% in January). In contrast, the reading for domestic trade improved in February (+3.3% vs +2.8% in January).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, economic activity was up 0.8% in February, following a 0.6% increase in the previous month.
