Costa Rica: Fall in consumer prices softens in April
Latest reading: Consumer prices declined 1.6% in annual terms in April, following a 2.1% fall in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-3.9% in annual terms vs -6.5% in March) and transportation (-3.7% vs -4.4% in March). In contrast, price pressures reduced for housing in April (-1.5% vs -1.4% in March).
Lastly, consumer prices declined 0.04% in April on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.34% increase in the previous month.
