Latest reading: Economic sentiment increased to 101.5 in May, following April’s 97.6. The latest reading was above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
In May, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (-4.3 vs -5.7 in April), the construction sector (+1.3 vs -1.5 in April), the services sector (+7.1 vs -0.7 in April) and among consumers (-20.3 vs -28.9 in April). Sentiment in the retail sector was unchanged from April at -9.6.
