Ecuador: Economic activity loses momentum in May
Latest reading: Economic activity rose 1.1% in annual terms in May, following 2.0% growth in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in May softened for agriculture (-3.8% in annual terms vs -0.3% in April) and mining and quarrying (-1.4% vs -1.3% in April). In contrast, readings improved for manufacturing (+5.4% vs +4.2% in April) and services (+2.4% vs +2.0% in April).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, economic activity was down 0.3% in May, following a flat reading in the previous month.
