Ecuador: Economic activity slows in April
Latest reading: Economic activity rose 1.7% in annual terms in April, following 3.7% growth in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, the reading for mining and quarrying worsened in April (-1.0% in annual terms vs +0.5% in March). In contrast, readings picked up for agriculture (+0.1% vs -2.1% in March) and manufacturing (+3.3% vs +2.0% in March). Finally, the variation in services was the same as in the prior month (+1.4% in April and March).
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, economic activity was down 0.1% in April, following a 0.5% decline in the previous month.
