Germany: Industrial production speeds up in May
Latest reading: Industrial production was up 0.9% in calendar-adjusted month-on-month terms in May, following a 0.2% rise in the previous month. May’s reading was the strongest since September 2025.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, readings in May improved for manufacturing (+0.8% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs +0.3% in April), mining and quarrying (+0.6% vs -7.6% in April), energy (+0.8% vs +0.5% in April) and construction (+0.9% vs +0.3% in April).
On a calendar-adjusted year-on-year basis, industrial production was unchanged in May, following a 0.9% fall in the prior month.
