Ghana: Inflation slows in July from June
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 4.6% on a year-on-year basis in July, following a 5.3% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3.1% in annual terms vs +3.9% in June), transport (+7.5% vs +9.1% in June) and recreation and entertainment (+6.1% vs +6.5% in June). In contrast, there were more notable price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+8.3% vs +7.9% in June) and clothing and footwear (+3.1% vs +2.6% in June).
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.09% in July on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.25% rise in the prior month.
