Hong Kong: Retail sales slow in June
Latest reading: Retail sales increased 2.2% on a year-on-year basis in June, following a 4.8% increase in the previous month. June’s reading was the weakest since July 2025.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, readings in June softened for clothing and footwear (+0.1% on a year-on-year basis vs +2.3% in May) and jewelry, watches and valuables (+7.4% vs +10.7% in May). In contrast, readings improved for fuel (-28.4% vs -28.7% in May), supermarkets (-0.7% vs -1.1% in May) and food and alcoholic beverages (+1.9% vs -1.5% in May).
