Indonesia: Retail sales decelerate in March
Latest reading: Retail sales were up 2.4% in annual terms in March, following a 6.5% increase in the prior month. March’s reading was the weakest since June 2025.
Relative to the previous month’s data, readings in March worsened for food, beverages, and tobacco (+4.0% on a year-on-year basis vs +8.8% in February), motor vehicles, parts and accessories (+11.3% vs +13.1% in February) and cultural and recreation goods (+1.7% vs +10.1% in February). In contrast, readings improved for automotive fuels (-0.6% vs -9.3% in February) and information and communication equipment (-25.0% vs -28.3% in February).
