Indonesia: Retail sales shrink more slowly in May
Latest reading: Retail sales fell 3.2% in annual terms in May, following a 3.7% fall in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in May improved for motor vehicles, parts and accessories (+16.6% on a year-on-year basis vs +14.7% in April) and information and communication equipment (-17.4% vs -26.4% in April). In contrast, readings softened for food, beverages, and tobacco (-4.0% vs -3.8% in April), automotive fuels (-2.3% vs -0.8% in April) and cultural and recreation goods (+0.6% vs +0.7% in April).
