Ireland: Economic sentiment declines in April
Latest reading: Economic sentiment declined to 94.9 in April, following March’s 99.4. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy and it was the lowest since November 2022.
In April, sentiment darkened in the industrial sector (+13.8 vs +19.7 in March), the construction sector (+18.1 vs +21.3 in March), the services sector (+3.9 vs +11.8 in March) and among consumers (-28.7 vs -23.5 in March). In contrast, sentiment turned more upbeat in the retail sector (+8.3 vs +5.3 in March).
