Latest reading: Economic sentiment increased to 99.6 in July, following June’s 99.2. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In July, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (-5.4 vs -6.1 in June), the services sector (+5.6 vs +4.6 in June) and among consumers (-20.2 vs -22.1 in June). On the flipside, sentiment worsened in the construction sector (-2.2 vs +1.9 in June) and the retail sector (+12.4 vs +13.1 in June).
