Japan: Industrial production contracts less quickly in March
Latest reading: Industrial production declined 0.5% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis in March, following a 2.0% decline in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, readings in March improved for manufacturing (-0.4% in month-on-month terms vs -2.1% in February) and mining (+0.8% vs -1.5% in February).
On a year-on-year basis, industrial production increased 2.3% in March, following a 0.4% rise in the previous month.
