Luxembourg: Inflation picks up in April from March
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices were up 5.2% in annual terms in April, following a 3.8% rise in the previous month. April’s reading was the strongest since January 2023.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+15.9% in annual terms vs +8.3% in March), housing and utilities (+4.4% vs +1.7% in March) and restaurants and hotels (+3.4% vs +2.9% in March). In contrast, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+2.3% vs +2.7% in March) and recreation (+2.6% vs +4.8% in March).
Meanwhile, consumer prices were up 3.1% on a year-on-year basis in April, following a 2.4% increase in the previous month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 2.01% in April in month-on-month terms, following a 1.79% rise in the previous month.
