Malaysia: Industrial production steadies in March
Latest reading: Industrial production rose 3.1% in annual terms in March, unchanged from the prior month’s reading. March’s reading was the weakest since June 2025.
Relative to the prior month’s data, figures in March improved for manufacturing (+5.5% in annual terms vs +4.2% in February) and electricity and gas (+4.9% vs +4.6% in February). In contrast, the reading for mining and quarrying worsened in March (-6.5% vs -2.0% in February).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial production rose 1.1% in March, following a 2.9% fall in the prior month.
