Malaysia: Inflation eases in June from May
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 1.9% in annual terms in June, following a 2.0% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, price pressures reduced for transportation in June (+2.8% in annual terms vs +3.8% in May). In contrast, price pressures were higher for housing and utilities in June (+1.4% vs +1.2% in May). Finally, the variations in food and non-alcoholic beverages and recreation services and culture were the same as in the prior month (+1.4% and +1.1%, respectively).
Finally, consumer prices flatlined in June in month-on-month terms, following a 0.15% rise in the prior month.
