Romania: Industrial production speeds up in April
Latest reading: Industrial production was up 1.5% on a working-day and seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis in April, following 0.4% growth in the previous month. April’s reading was the strongest since April 2025.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in April improved for manufacturing (+2.0% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis vs +0.3% in March) and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (-0.5% vs -2.1% in March). In contrast, the reading for mining and quarrying softened in April (-2.9% vs +10.1% in March).
On a working-day and seasonally adjusted year-on-year basis, industrial production was down 3.1% in April, following a 2.1% decline in the prior month.
