Taiwan: Inflation accelerates in April from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices were up 1.7% on a year-on-year basis in April, following a 1.2% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were higher price pressures for food (+0.6% in annual terms vs -0.2% in March), housing (+2.1% vs +2.0% in March), transportation (+2.7% vs 0.0% in March) and education and entertainment (+2.4% vs +2.1% in March).
Lastly, consumer prices were up 0.79% in April in month-on-month terms, following a 0.50% fall in the prior month.
