Thailand: Manufacturing production contracts in April
Latest reading: Manufacturing production was down 0.4% on a year-on-year basis in April, following a 1.3% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in April softened for food products (0.0% in annual terms vs +8.9% in March), automotive vehicles (-0.3% vs +0.2% in March) and refined petroleum products (+0.8% vs +2.4% in March). In contrast, readings improved for chemical products (-0.4% vs -0.8% in March) and computer and electronic products (+6.8% vs +3.1% in March).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, manufacturing output was stable in April, following 2.3% growth in the prior month.
