Ukraine: Inflation accelerates in March from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 7.9% on a year-on-year basis in March, following a 7.6% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, price pressures were higher for transportation in March (+13.4% in annual terms vs +6.8% in February). In contrast, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+9.5% vs +9.9% in February) and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+1.7% vs +2.3% in February).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices were up 7.1% in annual terms in March, following a 7.0% rise in the previous month.
Lastly, consumer prices rose 1.70% in March on a month-on-month basis, following a 1.00% increase in the prior month.
