Uruguay: Manufacturing production contracts in January
Latest reading: Manufacturing production fell 1.5% in annual terms in January, following a 7.4% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, readings in January softened for food (+0.5% in annual terms vs +17.0% in December), paper (-2.3% vs +17.1% in December) and beverages (+5.2% vs +5.6% in December). In contrast, the reading for chemical substances and products improved in January (+30.7% vs -26.0% in December).
