Inflation picks up in July from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 2.7% on a year-on-year basis in July, following a 2.3% rise in the previous month. Relative to the previous month's figures, price pressures were higher for housing, electricity, water and fuels in July (+2.3% in annual terms vs +2.2% in June). In contrast, price pressures reduced for food and alcoholic beverages in July (+2.1% vs +2.4% in June). Finally, the change in clothing and footwear prices was the same as in the prior month (+0.6% in July and June). Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.66% in July on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.32% fall in the prior month.
