Inflation eases in June from May

Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices rose 3.5% in annual terms in June, following a 4.0% increase in the previous month. June's reading was the weakest since December 2024. Relative to the previous month's figures, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.5% in annual terms vs +0.3% in May), transportation (+5.3% vs +9.4% in May) and restaurants and hotels (+4.7% vs +5.2% in May). In contrast, price pressures were higher for housing and utilities in June (+9.7% vs +9.4% in May). Finally, the variation in recreation prices was the same as in the prior month (+4.8% in June and May). Meanwhile, consumer prices were up 3.5% in June, following a 3.8% increase in the previous month. Finally, harmonized consumer prices declined 0.18% in June on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.36% increase in the previous month.
