Belgium: Economic sentiment declines in April
Latest reading: Economic sentiment dropped to 88.1 in April, following March’s 89.4. The latest reading was the lowest since October 2023 and below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In April, sentiment worsened in the services sector (-8.8 vs -1.0 in March) and among consumers (-19.8 vs -18.3 in March). On the flipside, sentiment improved in the industrial sector (-12.2 vs -14.2 in March), the construction sector (-12.6 vs -13.8 in March) and the retail sector (-6.8 vs -9.4 in March).
