Portugal: Economic sentiment declines in April
Latest reading: Economic sentiment declined to 100.4 in April, following March’s 103.5. The latest reading was the lowest since August 2024 and above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
In April, sentiment darkened in the industrial sector (-4.0 vs -1.8 in March), the services sector (+7.0 vs +7.7 in March) and among consumers (-28.8 vs -25.4 in March). On the flipside, sentiment turned more upbeat in the construction sector (+3.7 vs +1.9 in March) and the retail sector (+4.9 vs +3.6 in March).
