Latest reading: Economic sentiment went down to 98.1 in April, following March’s 100.6. The latest reading was the lowest since July 2025 and below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In April, sentiment darkened in the industrial sector (-0.4 vs -0.1 in March), the construction sector (+18.1 vs +22.1 in March), the services sector (-0.2 vs +4.2 in March), the retail sector (+1.4 vs +2.7 in March) and among consumers (-23.8 vs -18.1 in March).
