Latest reading: Economic sentiment went up to 91.7 in March, following February’s 88.9. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In March, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (-18.4 vs -21.0 in February), the construction sector (-5.7 vs -10.8 in February) and the services sector (+6.5 vs +5.8 in February). On the flipside, sentiment worsened in the retail sector (+8.7 vs +11.7 in February) and among consumers (-8.2 vs -7.9 in February).
