Ecuador: Inflation accelerates in June from May
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 1.7% in annual terms in June, following a 0.9% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+7.8% on a year-on-year basis vs +5.9% in May), housing and utilities (-2.8% vs -7.2% in May) and communication (+0.7% vs +0.6% in May). In contrast, price pressures reduced for food and non-alcoholic beverages in June (-0.2% vs -0.1% in May). Finally, the change in restaurants and hotels prices was the same as in the prior month (+1.2% in June and May).
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.79% in June on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.62% fall in the prior month.
