France: Industrial production falls in May
Latest reading: Industrial production—excluding construction—fell 0.1% in working-day and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in May, following a 0.3% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, readings in May softened for manufacturing (-1.0% on a working-day and seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis vs +0.6% in April) and mining and quarrying (-0.6% vs +2.0% in April). In contrast, the reading for energy improved in May (+3.4% vs -1.1% in April).
On a working-day and seasonally adjusted year-on-year basis, industrial production was up 3.2% in May, following 2.9% growth in the previous month.
