Italy: Economic sentiment falls in April
Latest reading: Economic sentiment declined to 97.7 in April, following March’s 100.5. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy and it was the lowest since April 2025.
In April, sentiment worsened in the industrial sector (-6.9 vs -6.0 in March), the construction sector (-0.4 vs +2.2 in March), the services sector (+5.7 vs +7.9 in March) and among consumers (-23.9 vs -20.1 in March). On the flipside, sentiment brightened in the retail sector (+9.6 vs +8.1 in March).
