Japan: Consumer confidence worsens in April
Latest reading: Consumer confidence index went down to 32.2 in April, following March’s 33.3. The latest reading was below the threshold of 50 that separates optimistic from pessimistic sentiment and it was the lowest since April 2025.
In April, households grew less upbeat about employment opportunities (+37.4 vs +37.6 in March). Sentiment regarding their income growth was stable from March at +39.8.
