Latvia: Inflation picks up in March from February
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 3.4% on a year-on-year basis in March, following a 2.4% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+7.5% in annual terms vs -1.6% in February) and recreation (+3.3% vs +1.3% in February). In contrast, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.1% vs +2.5% in February), housing and utilities (+4.8% vs +5.3% in February) and restaurants and hotels (+4.0% vs +4.3% in February).
Meanwhile, consumer prices were up 3.4% in annual terms in March, following a 2.3% increase in the prior month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 1.94% in March in month-on-month terms, following a 0.26% increase in the prior month.
