Lithuania: Inflation accelerates in April from March
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 4.9% in annual terms in April, following a 4.4% increase in the prior month. April’s reading was the strongest since August 2023.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+12.6% in annual terms vs +7.2% in March), housing and utilities (+7.1% vs +6.6% in March) and restaurants and hotels (+6.3% vs +6.2% in March). In contrast, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.1% vs +2.7% in March) and recreation (+5.8% vs +6.1% in March).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 5.3% in annual terms in April, following a 4.8% increase in the previous month.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.67% in April in month-on-month terms, following a 1.46% rise in the previous month.
