Malaysia: Inflation decelerates in February from January
Latest reading: Consumer prices were up 1.4% in annual terms in February, following a 1.6% increase in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.3% on a year-on-year basis vs +1.5% in January), housing and utilities (+1.1% vs +1.2% in January) and recreation services and culture (+0.8% vs +0.9% in January). Finally, the variation in transportation prices was the same as in the prior month (-0.7% in February and January).
Finally, consumer prices were up 0.22% in February on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.15% rise in the prior month.
