Portugal: Industrial production returns to growth in March
Latest reading: Industrial production rose 3.2% in calendar and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in March, following a 0.3% drop in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in March improved for manufacturing (+4.7% in calendar and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs -1.3% in February) and mining and quarrying (+22.3% vs -16.5% in February). In contrast, the reading for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply softened in March (-6.4% vs +8.2% in February).
In calendar and seasonally adjusted year-on-year terms, industrial production increased 3.2% in March, following a 3.9% drop in the prior month.
