Russia: Inflation ebbs in February from January
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 5.9% in annual terms in February, following a 6.0% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, price pressures reduced for food and beverages in February (+5.4% on a year-on-year basis vs +5.9% in January). In contrast, price pressures were higher for services in February (+9.9% vs +9.6% in January). Finally, the variation in non-food goods prices was the same as in the prior month (+3.2% in February and January).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices rose 5.2% on a year-on-year basis in February, following a 5.4% increase in the previous month.
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.73% in February in month-on-month terms, following a 1.62% rise in the previous month.
