Slovakia: Inflation accelerates in April from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices rose 4.1% on a year-on-year basis in April, following a 3.7% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, price pressures were higher for transportation in April (+7.2% in annual terms vs +2.1% in March). In contrast, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.0% vs +1.3% in March), housing and utilities (+9.3% vs +9.5% in March), recreation (+4.7% vs +4.9% in March) and restaurants and hotels (+5.5% vs +5.8% in March).
Meanwhile, consumer prices increased 3.9% in April, following a 3.5% rise in the previous month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.51% in April in month-on-month terms, following a 0.01% increase in the prior month.
