Slovenia: Inflation picks up in April from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices were up 3.4% on a year-on-year basis in April, following a 2.4% rise in the prior month. April’s reading was the strongest since December 2023.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+5.4% on a year-on-year basis vs -1.7% in March), housing and utilities (+10.9% vs +5.9% in March) and recreation (+1.6% vs +1.4% in March). In contrast, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.2% vs +2.8% in March) and restaurants and hotels (+3.9% vs +4.5% in March).
Meanwhile, consumer prices increased 3.1% in April, following a 2.5% increase in the previous month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 1.83% in April in month-on-month terms, following a 0.45% increase in the prior month.
