Spain: The unemployment rate rises in Q1
Latest reading: The unemployment rate climbed to 10.8% in Q1 from 9.9% in Q4, exceeding market expectations. The rise in total number of unemployment was the sharpest in a first quarter since 2013, reflecting a more-intense-than-usual seasonal cooling. Meanwhile, the number of employed people decreased by 170,300 to a total 22.3 million.
The number of unemployed grew by 231,500 from Q4, while the number of people in the labor force grew by 61,200 to a total of 25 million.
