Turkey: Inflation eases in March from February
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 30.9% on a year-on-year basis in March, following a 31.5% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, there were milder price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+32.4% on a year-on-year basis vs +36.4% in February), housing and utilities (+42.1% vs +42.3% in February) and restaurants and hotels (+31.7% vs +32.9% in February). In contrast, there were higher price pressures for transport (+34.4% vs +28.9% in February) and clothing and footwear (+7.2% vs +6.8% in February).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices were up 29.7% in annual terms in March, following a 29.5% increase in the prior month.
Lastly, consumer prices were up 1.94% in March on a month-on-month basis, following a 2.96% rise in the prior month.
