Uruguay: Inflation rises in June from May
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 4.3% on a year-on-year basis in June, following a 3.8% rise in the previous month. June’s reading was the strongest since October 2025.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+2.6% on a year-on-year basis vs +2.2% in May) and transportation (+7.7% vs +4.5% in May). In contrast, there were milder price pressures for clothing and footwear (-5.2% vs -4.9% in May) and housing (+4.9% vs +5.0% in May).
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.37% in June on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.70% increase in the previous month.
