Latest reading: Economic sentiment went up to 101.1 in April, following March’s 100.3. The latest reading was above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
In April, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (-3.2 vs -3.3 in March), the construction sector (-3.1 vs -6.0 in March) and the services sector (+31.6 vs +29.7 in March). On the flipside, sentiment darkened in the retail sector (+16.7 vs +16.8 in March) and among consumers (-6.6 vs -1.1 in March).
