Japan: Merchandise exports accelerate in April from the prior month
Latest reading: In April, the trade balance was JPY +0.3 trillion, up from the prior month’s JPY +0.6 trillion. Over the last 12 months, the trade balance summed to JPY -1.3 trillion.
Yen-denominated exports were up 14.8% in year-on-year terms in April, up from March’s 11.5% expansion.
Finally, yen-denominated imports rose 9.7% year-on-year in April, down from March’s 10.9% increase.
