Agricultural prices increased 1.7% month on month in November, following October’s 1.0% fall.
In November, agricultural prices regained some ground from October’s plunge. Five of the nine agricultural commodities tracked by our panelists traded higher month on month, with the grain complex spearheading the increase. Prices for corn, rice, soybeans and wheat all picked up from October as China and the U.S. reached a trade agreement in late October, which led to stronger purchasing activity from Beijing and spurred market expectations for demand going forward. On the flipside, cocoa, palm oil and sugar traded lower than in October, mostly on an improving supply outlook, while cotton prices remained restrained by sluggish global demand for textiles.
